HurlyBurly
You are the Sun

This show is a part of Monty on the Move – an exciting programme of theatre brought directly to you whilst The Montgomery Theatre and Arts Centre is closed for important redevelopment works!

Performances will take place in Picturing Sheffield at Weston Park Museum – Western Bank, Weston Park Museum, Mushroom Ln, Sheffield S10 2TP at  10:30am and 11:45am on  Friday 16th February 2024.

You are the Sun is a very first opera for babies and grownups that explores the magic of nature.

Combining the joy of gentle classical singing and sensory play, it is an invitation to see beauty in the smallest things and to let plants be our guides.

Celebrate the gift of nature as we conjure a world out of breath, water, sunlight and soil in this magical musical adventure for 0- 2s.

HurlyBurly Theatre make playful theatrical experiences for babies and adults with classical singing at their heart. We make shows where babies are free to be themselves and grown-ups have a chance to relax, bond and play.

Please note, this production is programmed by The Montgomery, presented to you by HurlyBurly.

🎭PAY WHAT YOU DECIDE🎭

Here at The Monty, we want everyone to be able to come and see our shows! We pick them because we love them and we want you to love them as well! Read below to find out all about our PWYD scheme!

🎟️What is Pay What You Decide (PWYD)?🎟️

In lots of ways, it’s exactly what it sounds like! We want audience members to be able to choose what suits their budget for the shows that The Monty brings to the theatre. Our accessible Pay What You Decide scheme aims to ensure that the magic of performance is available to all, regardless of income. At the heart of our mission is inclusivity, and we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the arts and one of the ways we do this is with an inclusive ticketing intiative.

🌟 How Does it Work?🌟

At the ticket selection page on the website, for shows that are eligible, you will be given the following options:

  • £3 Tickets: Tailored for those currently unemployed or reliant on benefits, because we understand that daily needs come first.

£5 Tickets: Striking a balance for those with moderate or unpredictable incomes. If you fall within the low to mid-range of earnings and want to support the arts.

£7 Tickets: Geared towards those seeking a middle ground in terms of income. By selecting this option, you contribute to sustaining the arts while enjoying an accessible ticket price. If you find yourself comfortably situated between moderate and higher incomes, this option is designed with you in mind.

£9 Tickets: Designed for higher earners or those who would like ‘Pay it forward’, we acknowledge your support in making the arts accessible to everyone.

We also offer free tickets to Sanctuary Seekers through our Youth Theatre of Sanctuary. If you are a Sanctuary Seeker please get in touch with info@themontgomery.org.uk and we can help you find the right tickets for you and your family.

🌞Won’t I Be Treated Differently for Picking a Cheaper Ticket?🌞

Absolutely not! No one is going to check, ask, mention or even acknowledge what kind of ticket you have bought, that’s not the point of the scheme. Our aim is to make sure you can get to see our shows regardless of any personal financial circumstance. All we care about is that if you book a ticket that you definitely use it so as many people as possible get to see our shows!

Join us in creating a space where art is not limited by financial barriers. Your choice, your experience – the power is in your hands. Let’s redefine the way we enjoy performances together.

🎉What’s not to love? An affordable theatre ticket and you get to be part of a more inclusive cultural community! Winner!🎉

About the company

HurlyBurly was founded by Artistic Directors Sarah Forbes and Catherine Carter in 2016.

We originally trained as classical singers and began to work together as HurlyBurly as very new parents with babes in arms. We make shows that we would have wanted to experience at that time  for ourselves – where babies can be themselves and so can their parents.

We welcome everyone and work hard to make high quality performances that inspire people to develop a lifelong relationship with singing and music.
