There’s a bright golden haze on the Meadow! And it’s called OKLAHOMA!

Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein marked the dawning of a new era in American musical theatre when they wrote Oklahoma. It also began the most successful songwriting partnership that Broadway has ever seen. This show never gets old. The classic Rogers & Hammerstein musical set in Native American Territory centres on a love triangle between feisty farm girl Laurey Williams and her two suitors: cocky yet affable cowboy Curly McLain and the solitary, troubled farmhand Judd Fry.

Full of brilliant dance routines and fantastic, well-known songs such as Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’, The Surrey with the Fringe on top, The Farmer and the Cowman and the beautiful People Will Say We’re in Love plus many, many more is what makes this show such a timeless treasure in musical theatre.

Book early so as not to miss this amazing show in all its classic glory.

About the company

Woodseats Musical Theatre Company are a vibrant, friendly company who have been performing since 1945 and are known for presenting first class shows and concerts at local theatres in and around Sheffield.

 

Shows such as Kiss Me Kate; Footloose; The Wedding Singer; All Shook Up; and Legally Blonde plus many more, with press comments such as: “A great devotion to detail; would do justice to a professional company; a flawless production, from the acting and singing to choreography; This group, can now claim to be one of the best in the City. We are proud of all our productions.

 

Everyone is given a friendly welcome, whether performers or production members, we work hard but also have lots of fun at rehearsals which we always think is very important to putting on a good show.

 

We also have a lively social section which includes BBQs, picnics in the park, theatre trips. Halloween parties, Bonfire parties etc and sometimes just parties for the sake of having a party!!

Tickets for this event are sold through our box office.

No physical tickets will be issued, your confirmation email is all you will need to gain entry.

Tickets are available online 24 hours a day.

Access
The Montgomery is currently undergoing redevelopment works to make the building accessible. Access information will be updated in due course.

It is not currently possible to book access seats online.

Public Transport

The nearest tram stop is Cathedral, within 5 minutes’ walk.
Buses stopping at the Arundel Gate interchanges are within 5 minutes’ walk.
Sheffield Train Station is approximately a 10 minute walk from the venue.

By Car

Access to Surrey Street is via Arundel Gate, onto Norfolk Street. A the top of Norfolk Street, turn right. The Montgomery is on the right side, facing the Town Hall.

A loading bay is available immediately in front of the theatre, and hourly on-street parking is available.
