Reynard the Fox

This show is a part of Monty on the Move – an exciting programme of theatre brought directly to you whilst The Montgomery Theatre and Arts Centre is closed for important redevelopment works!

This show will take place at Endcliffe Park, Rustlings Rd, Sheffield S11 7AB.

The tale of Reynard the Fox follows the woodlands most infamous scoundrel who prides himself on being the trickster of the forest. But when the Woodland Court announces the theft of the King’s Crown Jewels the animal kingdom immediately blame the fox. Reynard must do everything he can to prove his innocence and avoid certain death, as well as maintaining his devious persona. Will the gift of his silver tongue be a shade too bright against his roguish red fur to save his own tail?

Reynard the Fox is an engaging outdoor theatre show for family audiences of all ages, using The Fabularium’s unique aesthetic, strong imagery and all performed upon their traditional wooden cart, featuring storytelling, puppetry, original live music and their bespoke animal headpieces.

This is a Pay What You Decide performance event with donations on the day after the show, you are welcome to choose whichever band feels best suited to you. If you are unable to make a financial contribution we need to know how many people to expect so please do book a ticket in advance if you are planning on joining us!

About the company

Created in 2010, The Fabularium was setup as a piece of action research intended to enhance skills in performance and support the development of Postgraduates in association with Coventry University, by devising and performing stories depicted through various mediums from acrobatic and circus skills to mask and puppetry, live music and story-telling.

The Fabularium tour their work nationally and internationally, outdoors and indoors, to a variety of festivals, events, theatres, and rural touring venues. Their work ranges from midscale vibrant cart shows to energetic walkabout animations, bringing a burst of vitality to any outdoor space.
Key collaborators with Coventry University, The Fabularium work together with graduates and students to teach them adaptable skills used for working in the Outdoor Arts Sector and provide freelance working opportunities.

Access

The venue does not currently have wheelchair access, and there are 3 stairs from pavement to foyer, and 32 stairs from foyer to theatre. We will be undertaking the building work to install a lift in 2023, but there is not currently a lift available at the venue.
