MINI MIGMAT AT THE MONTY PROGRAMME CALLOUT

For the first time, Migration Matters Festival in partnership with Stand & Be Counted Theatre and The Montgomery Theatre’s ‘Youth Theatre of Sanctuary’ have created Mini MigMat at the Monty, a new programme dedicated to platforming work created for young people. The programme will take place at The Montgomery Theatre 17th-18th June, and form part of the wider festival programme 16th-24th June, 2023.

The programme will be selected and curated by the young people involved in the Youth Theatre of Sanctuary with support from Stand & Be Counted Theatre, The Montgomery Theatre and Migration Matters Festival.

In order to apply we are asking for proposals to be part of this strand of our programme. Successful shows will be offered up to £850 which will be assessed by the Youth Theatre of Sanctuary young people. The deadline for this will be 7th April. The final decision on proposals will be 12th April.

Shows could be in keeping with the festival’s central aim of to bring together everyone, to recognise each other, and to see people not for the labels that divide us, but for the unique talents and skills that make us who we are. This work might be made by or for people from migrant backgrounds and/or have lived experience of displacement and seeking sanctuary, or it might be a way to open up this dialogue or explore these narratives through a production aimed at children and young people.
