Migration Matters Festival is Sheffield’s best loved festivals that platforms the experiences, stories and cultures that have enriched the UK and made Sheffield, the first ‘City of Sanctuary’, the city that it is today.

In 2023, for the first time, Migration Matters Festival in partnership with Stand & Be Counted Theatre and The Montgomery Theatre’s ‘Youth Theatre of Sanctuary’ created Mini MigMat at the Monty, a new programme dedicated to platforming work created for young people. The programme took place at The Montgomery Theatre from the 17th – 18th June and formed part of the wider festival programme that ran from 16th – 24th June, 2023.

Mini MigMat at the Monty is selected and curated by the young people involved in the Youth Theatre of Sanctuary with support from Stand & Be Counted Theatre, The Montgomery Theatre and Migration Matters Festival.

We hope to bring Mini MigMat at the Monty back in 2024 pending further fundraising to deliver this incredible performance!
