Welcome to our new website!

22nd November 2022

We hope this new website will be a great experience for you, from booking in to see shows, to seeing more of what we are working on and find out more information about our charitable aims. We will be further developing the site in the next couple of weeks to give you an insight into even more of what we do, but for now we thought we would look back on how 2022 has been for us so far.

HOSTED MORE THAN

PERFORMANCES in our theatre

Most of our bookings this year have been from community companies, dance schools, schools and touring productions who have been presenting productions at the Montgomery for many years.  We have also welcomed some new touring companies booking with us to present their productions and held a mini–Schools Festival this June. June also saw Migration Matters Festival booking us for several events including Lemn Sissay and Seyed Ali Jaberi and the Hamdel Ensemble. Far Far Away Theatre presented a very successful run of Fantastic Mr Fox in November, selling out the stalls for several performances.

WELCOMED MORE THAN

audience members

With all the brilliant event organisers hiring our building come fantastic audiences coming to their productions. So if you came to see a performance in our theatre this year then thank you for supporting these companies and visiting us at the Montgomery!

Began growing the

STRAND OF WORK

As part of Monty Makers, we have fundraised for and delivered 40 free day long workshops for Children and Young People. We have programmed and presented 14 high quality children’s theatre shows with support from the Big Imaginations network as part of Monty Makers

We have co-fundraised for and supported 36 sessions with SBC’s Youth Theatre of Sanctuary to be delivered. In partnership with SBC Theatre, we have fundraised for and delivered 36 sessions with SBC’s Youth Theatre of Sanctuary – the first Youth Theatre of Sanctuary in the UK. We are committed to providing weekly sessions for this group alongside SBC theatre despite neither organisation receiving regular core funding.

In order to make all of our Monty Makers work happen we have been lucky enough to have had support from many brilliant funding bodies such as Arts Council England (Project Grants), National Lottery Awards for All, the South Yorkshire Community Fund, the Talbot Trust, Sheffield Town Trust, J G Graves and Sheffield Church Burgess.

And we’re not done with 2022 yet…

As we come to the end of 2022, we are very excited to announce that Touched Theatre will be visiting us to present their Manchester Culture Awards 2022 shortlisted show, The Gift! We are very excited to present this show in our theatre on the 22nd and 23rd of December to finish the year. You can read more about the production and book your tickets here
