The Friends of The Montgomery Launch

Join us for a glass of wine and hear how you can get involved in the future of The Montgomery!

This event will introduce the new Friends of The Montgomery scheme and we would be delighted to see you there. We'll tell you all about what has been going on to prepare for the long term future of the building and tell you about our fundraising work to refurbish and replace the worst of the seats in the auditorium.

The Montgomery is developing a long term plan to make its 130 year old building more open, more accessible and better suited to the needs of today. Over the last couple of years many people who know and love 'The Monty' have been helping out to keep the building going, while that long term plan is developed. For instance, the backstage areas have been given a thorough clean, the auditorium has a new coat of paint and a ball was held for members of the amateur theatre community to raise much needed funds.

The Montgomery has a long history of working with community theatre and dance companies.  Therefore, we have decided to formalise The Friends of The Montgomery into a proper membership group of like-minded individuals and friends who can provide ongoing support to further the aims of The Montgomery in being the centre for community and family theatre and the arts in Sheffield.

The event will begin at 7:30pm and you'll be welcomed with a complementary drink and home-made cakes. After a brief introduction we will be treated to a short performance from the Wanlin Chinese Dance School who use the Montgomery’s Studio as their home. There will then be an opportunity to ask questions and chat about the developments at The Montgomery…and, of course, enjoy some more home-made cakes!

The event is free and everyone is welcome. Please RSVP to friends@themontgomery.org.uk if you are planning to attend.
