24 July 2024Monty on the Move 2024
Experience an unforgettable summer of fun, theatre and creativity with Monty on the Move, a special programme of children’s theatre shows brought to you by The Montgomery Theatre and Arts Centre. Following our successful run in 2023 and whilst our theatre doors remain closed, we are excited to bring the magic of live performance directly to our local communities, welcoming three inspiring and engaging children’s theatre productions out into our wonderful city of Sheffield.
What is Monty on the Move?
Monty on the Move is a unique summer theatre program designed to keep the spirit of The Montgomery Theatre alive while our main venue is temporarily closed. This summer, we’re thrilled to be welcoming Smoking Apples Theatre, Knotted Hawk and our old friends, The Fabularium to showcase their children’s touring shows in three locations around Sheffield. Monty on the Move is a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy high-quality theatre performances in the heart of their own communities. And one of the best bits? You can get your tickets for FREE. Read on to find out more about ticket information.
Our Shows
Each of the three touring shows has been carefully selected to entertain, educate, and inspire young audiences.
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store:
The Crew
The Fabularium
9th August – 2pm & 4pm
SHEFFIELD AMPHITHEATRE
It was a time of tempests, of great disruption and uncertainty. Humankind knew nothing but selfishness and greed, all at the expense of the Earth and her beauty. The humans’ disregard for Mother Nature angered the Gods, and so they turned their backs on them…all but One. Amongst the pandemonium – One of the Gods still has hope and decides they must teach the humans how to live together, or risk dying alone. Two storm riddled shipwrecks, two ancient cultures, two very different claims on the world…two people. Yet without each other, this crew have no hope of navigating their way to safety.
The Fabularium are back with a wild and windy tale of wisdom, woe and wonder, set to reignite humans’ relationship with our waters. Come and join ‘The Crew’ on their voyage into the great unknown!
The Greatest Robot Ever is a brand new, rhyming story created by The Knotted Project and Hawk Dance Theatre. This interactive dance theatre show is perfect for children 3-8 years
and their grownups.
Glitch the little robot doesn’t feel special like all the other amazing robots living in the Junk Yard.
With the help of their best friend, Shift, they go on a quest to find the pieces to make them stand out! Full of fun, adventure and self discovery;
Will Glitch find what they were searching for all along?
Using projection, dance and storytelling, children interact with the performers throughout the show and take part in an engaging workshop exploring resilience, friendship and
wellbeing.
